We have been working hard to put together arrangements for the blessed month of Ramadan despite the difficult situation we are facing with the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, this Ramadan, it is very likely that the Islamic Centre will be closed which would mean that the usual services we offer and arrangements that we make will no longer be available.
There will not be any tarawih prayers at the Mosque. This would mean, that you are requested to pray the tarawih prayers at home. It would be a good idea to pray in a family congregation. The completion of the Qur’an in the tarawih prayers is nice, but is not essential, so shorted surahs can be recited.
Ramadan is a great time for coming together with friends and family at the time of opening the fasts. Last year, Islamic Center Edgware provided a facility to have iftar meals served to all those who came to the centre at iftar time. This year, the Center will not be holding any gatherings and will not be distributing food. Due to the lockdown, we request that people do not visit others and continue to self-isolate as much as possible.
We are honoured to have guests at the mosque for the last ten nights who engage in constant worship. We will be unable to host anybody for i’tikaf this year.
We will however be arranging for online lectures to be made available on our website which can be listened to daily. The lectures will be the based upon what is usually recited in the tarawih prayers. The purpose of the lectures is to cover key important messages from the Qur’an. These are lectures pre-recorded by Sheikh Abdullah.
Social Media Channels
We have teamed up with our friends at New Muslims and will also be posting reminders on social media, including whatsapp, twitter and instagram. This will allow us to continue our spiritual nourishment.
Our Q&A section is available on our website and will be monitored, where you will be able to ask any questions should they arise.
Ramadan 2020 Project
Alhumdulillah, last year we raised funds for four international projects which have been completed. Some updates are still coming in and progress can be seen on our Charity Projects page.
Since last Ramadan, we embarked on a project to establish another centre and raised funds to buy a building. Much of the money raised was given as a loan and needs to be paid back. We are looking to raise funds this Ramadan to repay the debts. Please donate now so you too can get the reward of establishing a house of Allah.
